Prosciutto and Onion Sauce alla Verdirame

Serve over your favorite Colavita pasta.
Origin: Italian
Ingredients:

3 tablespoon COLAVITA Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3-4 large onions, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
1/4 pound prosciutto, diced
2 large cans Italian plum tomatoes (pureed in blender)
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried basil)


Preparation:


Saute onions with garlic in olive oil for about 5 minutes. Add prosciutto and cook a few minutes longer. Add plum tomatoes,  tomato sauce  salt and pepper and cook 1 hour. Stir in basil.
